Fluorescent lingerie?! (That's just odd...)

Would you believe it...?! Well it's actually quite sexy!

I was browsing through a few lingerie sites and stumbled across a very intriguing intimate apparel designer called Deborah Marquit.

My first glimpse of her designs literally stopped me in my tracks:

It was the vibrancy of the colours - practically popping from this snapshot that made me want to learn more about this designer. I don't know about you but the sheerness of the purple bra contrasted with the honeysuckle pink against the opaque floral print is just downright kooky! It's so odd but the effect of such strange contrasts turns out to be some serious eye candy!

So I was compelled to start exploring...

My findings on Deborah Marquit after a bit of good ol' digging:

  • Her pieces became infamous after a Miss Carrie Bradshaw showed it off under black lights in Season Four of one of my favourite shows Sex and the City.
  • For over 25 years she's been using unstandard materials like camouflage print in cotton twill and vinyl with bright palettes and patterns to produce the most visually surreal bras and bottoms on the market.
  • She is driven by the philosophy that wearing these fluorescent colours 'reveres the body pleasing the psyche by reflecting light to and from the body.' (Now that's a direct psychoanalytical quote from her website!)
I don't know about you but I never imagined that lingerie could be tied so closely with psychology! After three years of studying psych, I really wish we'd had a unit of study titled the psychology of lingerie!

Check her range out...

This shade of emerald green is one colour I honestly believe we don't see enough of in everyday life. In the form of a bra set, this colour just pops!

Gossip Girl's Leighton Leester modelling a bra produced by her...

Deborah Marquit's fusion of materials, cuts and vibrant colours make this line one I'll definitely check out if I go to the US...Enjoy!

On a random note I'm still in a highly musical mood and am listening to some great tracks which make me smile.

Amerie featuring Eve - 1 thing: I love that she uses the numeral 1 rather than the word.

Kayne West and Pusha T- Runaway: This song sent chills down my spine when I heard it on my way home from work. Love that they use the word doosh and jerkoffs... It's refreshing to hear such an anti-love song! ;)

Hellogoodbye - Here in Your Arms: This song is so likeable. It meant alot of me back in the day but now it's just one of those songs that makes me smile the moment I hear it out of the blue. They never play this track on the radio but perhaps it's because it's such a rarity that makes it so special. Check it out! So pretty!

Tiesto featuring Christian Burns - In the Dark: I actually came across this track during my first year of uni when I used to do spin classes every week at my gym. I was fully obsessed with those classes - not so much for my own fitness but because of the chance to sweat whilst listening to some freaking awesome tracks like this one :)

  1. The question that was in my head when I was reading about the bra's is: are they comfy?
But good music. Hellogoodbye is always good. Baby, it's fact.

  2. Hahaha, a fellow fan I see :) I love that song as well!

I imagine it is because she doesn't just combine all the different cuts and fabrics but puts alot of thought in how comfortable this will be for the wearer. That's probably half of the reason why her company has excelled within the market!!
