Life's been busy with alot of things happening, things ending. Today was the final day we had for a particular contract at work with over 70 people losing their jobs which was really sad. It must have been an odd sight for alot of the passengers we were checking in to witness so many of us hugging each other when 5:30pm came this afternoon. We'd be halfway through explaining immigration law to them and suddenly one of us would appear behind the other and give each other a big hug goodbye. We've seen each other so much, worked with each other, learnt from each other that I'm really sad to see it all happen. I hope we bump heads again.
Other things have ended too but for the better. Relationships are complicated but when it shouldn't be that complicated and could simply be simple, that's when you know there's a problem. People shouldn't dictate who you speak to, dictate how you ought to conduct your life and make you feel bad for standing up for values like honesty and openness and that's the end of my rather ungraceful rant haha.
What's changed? Well my little sister is currently overseas completing her exchange in Shanghai. She's been there since February and from what I've heard from her, she's enjoying herself alot which is all our family could hope for! I'm coping better than I thought - I thought I'd fall to pieces but at moments, it can be sad knowing that one of the closest people in your life is a very long way away - but alot of people experience that everyday and in far greater depth which puts things in perspective for me.
In other news, I've rekindled my love for buying and admiring kooky things.
The other day I bought a card randomly from Typo simply because I love the fact there was a whale on it. It's currently sitting pretty on the top of my cabinet next to my wodden train which I made in Yr 9 Woodwork and a photo of my grandma.
I also bought a collection of pins which you can tack things onto coreboard. I don't have a corkboard but I'm obsessed with bright and dotty things I couldn't resist the urge to buy something redundant to add to my collection of other redundant things haha.
Also, in the rare moments I'm not required to wear my work uniform, I've been wearing a top I fell in love with while I was in Bangkok. I found this top at the markets and loved the cut of it - shoulderless and slouchy is something I've currently loving with tight, fitted jeans!
Apparently the Thai writing on the front translates to 'Come in! Come in!' in the context of shopkeepers shooing people to come into their stores but when shopkeepers were pointing and laughing at it I got self conscious thinking that it was saying something offensive instead!
Finally came across some awesome dance clips and choreography by a guy called Brian Puspos from the States. The way in which he moves is so fluid and sensual that I'm in absolute awe as to how he can control his body like that. Not only that but the music he dances to is great *sigh*
Check him out doing 'Wet the Bed' by Chris Brown...
And finally the sequel to the above video 'Poppin,'' also by Chris Brown.
