You could be the talk/ I could be the walk

In the past few days I've come across a song which I've fallen in absolute love with. Honestly, I haven't listened to a song as many times as I have with Miguel's track Sure Thing.

I'm hooked with the lyrics. They're quite witty and I like how it's a succession of cute metaphors as an ode of Miguel's affections for a girl. Also, something about the chords reminds me of the 90s - a throwback on my primary school days ;)

Life has been hectic. Planning on going overseas for my leave next month so I'm really excited! Ideally, I want to go to Thailand - to Bangkok, to Phuket and Bali as well - and hopefully with a couple of my friends as well! It'll be interesting to venture overseas and not quite knowing what to expect...! I think that's half the fun :)

I'm interested in flying with Malaysian low cost carrier Air Asia again. I've only ever flew with them twice - last year when we flew from Hanoi, Vietnam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and then from KL to Mel on an A330 - but it was a great experience!

Quite a few aspects of the airline remind me of Jetstar which for me is pretty intriguing. The aircrafts we utilise mirror each other exactly - both airlines use Airbuses for their flights - but the product is different.

Air Asia has a greater selection of food choices on board and the entertainment system is more comprehensive. Also the uniform is made salient by the hot red, rather than the bright orange Jetstar is defined by.

The female cabin crew are also quite different in that they are allowed to wear their hair out, as long as it is tidy and well groomed. For Jetstar and all of the airlines who fly out of Sydney International, I have not seen one cabin crew or ground staff member wear their hair loose! To be honest, I was initially shocked but also pleasantly surprised :)

Regardless, I definitely recommend choosing Air  Asia if you're looking to fly within Asia. Not only is the product good value - it is a low cost carrier with the expectation of good service - but it operates routes which are very convenient especially when you're looking to fly throughout Asia! Definitely can't wait to fly with them again :)

Whites and brights

It's been a while since my last post so apologises for that! Work has been nuts and haven't really had a chance to rest but tonight is the tonight I've had a chance to shill and veg out! :)

In between work, I've been trashing out watching Laguna Beach, The Hills and Keeping up with the Kardashians so think what you will! I don't know what it is about those shows but I think it's living through them vicariously ;)

Anyway, some things that have caught my eye in the past few weeks:

Selena Gomez and this cute little number - I especially like the texture of her top and its pairing with the aqua shoes - very fresh!

Kate Bosworth with this outfit - Whilst the colour of her shift dress doesn't sit so well with most people, I think this shade looks great on her, plus coupled with the leather black shoes which add an edginess to the outfit. Very very cool methinks!

Finally Whitney Port's look has me hooked. This outfit below is both cute yet thoughtful - pastels in shades of lilac and pink look extremely hot together!

Autumn approaching...

Autumn is such a lovely season.

There's a chilliness about it that's refreshingly biting and I love that coats, pullovers and beanies start to reappear in public.

I went shopping today on my day off work. Checked out Parramatta Westfield and all the shops were rolling out their Autumn/Winter ranges!

Highlights:

** Coming across this cute Mohair Pointelle Pullover in Portmans.

I love the close fitting nature of this piece, plus the knit detail is absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to wear this during the first chilly day of Autumn. Seriously, I walked out of the store the first time not quite knowing which colour to buy this pullover in (it comes in this colour, plus a light grey), but I immediately came back 10 minutes later because I couldn't get the piece out of my head! Haha. Ended up getting the jumper in the above shade because it has more colour :)

** Stumbling across a very adorable beige Popcorn Beanie in Kookai.

I will take a photo of it as soon as I can but for now, take my word for it - it is such a great find for $30AU. The popcorn stitching is very unusual but cute and the design of the beanie itself is nifty as well. The sides actually extend so that it covered your ears!!

Finally something I've been trying to look for for years has been a sleeveless quilted puffer jacket! They are not very common at all in Australia retail stores. I have searched far and wide for these cute pieces but no such luck as yet. If anyone knows where to find it, let me know and I will be there in a heartbeat ;) Haha. Perfect to wear over a simple closefitted long sleeve top. Although I'm not a fan of fur hoodie so without it makes the piece must better I think!

TiMer: A good or not so good idea?

I was in the video store the other day and came across a little indie movie which looked really intriguing. It was called TiMer and the basic storyline was of a 29 year old women who was looking for her soulmate in a society where people over the ages of 14 could have implanted in their wrists timers which counted down to the day they'd meet their soulmate. The moment you set eyes on your mate, both you and your soulmate's timers will go off simultaneously.

Now the catch is not every timer implanted reflects a countdown to meeting your soulmate. Many are blank and that's because a person's timer will not commence counting down UNTIL their soulmate implants their own timer.

That, my friend, lies the twist.

Now this movie got me thinking. Say we existed in such a world and the following happened: What would you do if you met someone you had a connection to, but knew that based on this timer system, that he was not The One? What would you do?

One might argue that it wouldn't be worth the investment. Love is after all about investment (to an extent). Putting in the hard yards, the effort, the care to create something meaningful with someone you share a connection with. If you knew for a fact that he had his own soulmate (as you did) and that he would meet her in say 156 days 16 minutes and 37 seconds, would you be prepared to suffer the heartbreak, pain and eventual separation from him should you accidentally fall for him in the process of being with him in the here and now?

Would you take that detour knowing that you'd definitely lose him to another in precisely that many days?

The premise of the film is so interesting. I mean love is something we can all agree is incredibly uncertain but what would you do if you knew with certainty you were not to be with someone?

Humans are odd creatures. Perhaps like Oona you choose to pursue the relationship and find joy with someone who you know you won't end up with.

Maybe that isn't so wrong at all.

I walked away from the film thinking that it showed another way of being. That perhaps we shouldn't see the skewed decisions we make about our relationships as huge mistakes to be shoved into our past. That perhaps this film is a celebration of what life is actually around - detours. In this sci - fi love story, Oona clearly and knowingly took a detour with Mikey (her love interest) and ended up finding much joy and friendship from the pairing. The lessons she learnt aren't something I myself can even articulate but I do know that she developed as a person in ways that helped her be a better partner for her eventual partner.

It's often said that humans are hedonistic creatures, driven by pleasure but I think it's much simpler than that.

We just want to be loved - and some of us are prepared to go on detours to experience that.

Ginger ginger apple

Today was so so fun :)

Went to the city for the first time in ages during daylight hours and explored some interesting shopping haunts with a friend.

A few new shops have popped up, especially in the new shopping complex developments on Pitt Street - Westfield and MidCity and can I say that I felt like I was wondering in a maze at one point because of how huge it all is!

Some highlights today included:

** Purchasing my first ever petite parfum by Urban Rituelle. It's called Ginger Apple which comes in the most adorable package and bottle...

The sizing of the actual bottle is ideal for carrying in your handbag (it's about 15 cms long) and the amount is reasonable for the prize ($13.95 for 12ml).

Mind you, this wasn't the actual reason I was drawn to this fragance whilst I was cruising around Forever New. The scent itself is so so so delicious! My first thought was seriously: "Yum!!" I don't know about you but I love the scent of apples and spice and the combination created by this brand is refreshingly sugary yet spiced!

Makes me feel like I'm nibbling on an apple pie ;)

Shades of grey

I just had a thought tonight as I was browsing those some photos: Grey is a colour that's often underrated.

The emo brother of silver, the washed out cousin of black... It's often seen as a bleak reflection of one's mood or at its best, a simple, uncomplicated neutral.

But for me personally, grey is the colour that moves me the most.





I took this picture on a bus last week on my way to Canberra to see a dear friend from high school. The grey sky looked like it would crack open at any moment, bits of blue peeking out reminding me of simpler times, but I remember the scene reminding me of a poignant moment I had walking by myself in Iwaki Park, Japan when I was visiting another dear friend of mine two years ago. It wasn't that anything spectacular occurred at the time. It was simply because the green and the grey was so beautiful that I nearly cried and I didn't know why.

Two years on, I felt that same emotion and it's odd that the greyness of the clouds was what struck me the most.

Likewise, there was a song I heard on the radio on Saturday by a wonderfully progressive American group called Diddy Dirty-Money - Ass on the Floor.

Having been a huge fan of this relatively new group consisting of its founder Sean "Diddy" Combs, along with Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper, I love that their music embodies what others have described as "futuristic soul." It's unusual, refreshing and the clips are equally beautiful.

I wanted to share this clip because its use of cool shades, especially the greys, are absolutely stunning. It's not at all alienating as you'd expect - the overall effect goes to show that grey is one of the most intriguing and misunderstood colours of the colour scheme.

Continuing on this random note, I was compelled to do a bit of beading and try to create some pieces of jewellery for fun.

The cutest beads were probably the gold ones I bought from Lincraft and the purple organza roses.

I absolutely love organza.

For those not so familiar with the material, organza is a thin, sheer fabric often made of silk and the effect is astonishingly pretty. Check it out when you have a chance but trust me when I say that it's one of the prettiest fabrics out there :)

Shades of green tea lattes and clarity

Apologises all for being missing in action for the past week. Work’s been crazy with several mishaps, much laminating and classroom training but my mind’s always off with the fairies thinking about pretty panties and bras.

Trust me on that ;)

However it sounds odd but another thing that’s been on my mind has been the thought of green tea lattes.

Haha, now how can I explain that without sounding more weird?

Let’s put it this way: I love green tea lattes as much as I love lingerie. On days where I’m particularly stressed and simply want to veg out, there’s nothing I love the more than vegging out with a warm cup of green tea and milky goodness.

My love for it stemmed from my initial discovery of green tea (fullstop) when I visited Japan for the first time when I was 16. My host family was forever pouring me cups of it during meals and I grew to like it plus realised that my skin was becoming clearer by the day!

I continued to drink green tea after I came back to Australia but last year sipped my first green tea latte from Starbucks (freshly brewed and recommended by my friend Annie).  I haven’t looked back since and am officially a lover of lingerie AND green tea!

To celebrate the wonderfulness of green tea lattes I wanted to post up my favourite green tea coloured lingerie...

This is a gorgeous piece called Columbe by luxury lingerie company princesse TAM TAM.

I discovered this amazingly cute brand while I checking out a hot lingerie spread featured in a back issue of Marie Claire. I was immediately drawn to the flirty femininity of their lingerie and I loved its sheerness and understated vintage, floral prints. It's bliss!

On other news, I was in a rough patch before but have found that I've reached the lightest, most positive spot I've been in in months. Reflection is a great thing but it's not until things happen that clarity and ephiphanies emerge. All I can say is that I'm really lucky to have the friends that I have in my life so thank you :) You make my day, week and years in a way that noone else can, will, nor should. Suddenly it's clear where I want to be and it is here.

There's a particular song which captures how I'm feeling at the moment.It's not the actual lyrics sung by Miss Alexis Jordan in her track Good Girl, but the infectiousness of the beat and its effect on me whenever I hear it.

I feel giddy!
